Background: Obesity is known to induce systemic oxidative

stress (OS) through various mechanisms. In women, during

perimenopausal period, many changes are present, like central adiposity gain, which is a component of metabolic syndrome. The waist–to-height ratio (WHtR) is a new anthropometric marker of central obesity. Objective: To assess the relationship between the OS markers and WHtR in perimenopausal women. Methods: We carried out a cross-sectional study with 483 perimenopausal women (40-59 yrs) from Mexico City. We measured plasma lipoperoxide levels (LPO) by the TBARS assay,

glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and total plasma antioxidant status with Randox kits. Also, we measured the weight, height, and circumference of the waist of all women. Body mass index (BMI; weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters), and WHtR (waist circumference divided by height in centimeters) were calculated for the analysis. We stratify the women according to the World Health Organization as normal weight (BMI: <25 kg/m2), overweight (BMI: 25.00-29.99 kg/m2) and obesity (BMI:

Resveratrol’s glucosides such as resveratrol 3-O-β-D-glucoside and resveratrol 2-O-β-Dglucoside possess many advantages than resveratrol, such as higher hydrophilic and apparent benefits. Herein, the inhibition against fructose-derived advanced glycation end products (AGEs) formation of resveratrol glucosides was compared. The position of glucoside was found to be an important factor affecting inhibitory effect against AGEs formation. Resveratrol O-glucosides attached in the position of C-2, C-3, C-3' or C-4' showed slightly higher inhibition against AGEs formation than that of resveratrol. The antiAGEs activity is correlated with DPPH radical scavenging capacity but not the methylglyoxal trapping capacity. DOI: 10.1016/j.freeradbiomed.2017.10.227

>30 kg/m ); besides, we obtained the quartiles of WHtR of 2

normal weight women to compare OS markers. Results: LPO levels increased and GPx activity decreased in the women classified in the third (WHtR: 0.61-0.64) and fourth quartile (WHtR; >0.64); the other markers did not change. A positive correlation between LPO and WHtR (r=0.346, p< 0.0001), and negative between GPx and the same index (r=-0.333, p< 0.0001) in overweight women were found. In normal weight and obese women, we did not see any relationship.
