TRANSACTIONS OF THE SIXTY-NINTH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE CENTRAL ASSOCIATION OF OBSTETRICIANS AND GYNECOLOGISTS
Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists 2003 Annual Meeting Hilton LaJolla Torrey Pines LaJolla, California October 1-4, 2003 The Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is an organization for current and emerging leaders in clinical obstetrics and gynecology in the central United States. Founded in 1929 with a charter membership of 175 obstetrician/gynecologists, the CAOG has grown to its current roster of 1100 physicians. Since its inception, the CAOG has been devoted to the encouragement and promotion of the study and practice of obstetrics and gynecology. The Association has been in the forefront of the development of national policy on issues related to maternal, fetal, and neonatal health and has served a leadership role in setting national standards of excellence within the field. This year’s Central Association meeting will be held at the Hilton LaJolla Torrey Pines, LaJolla, Calif, from October 14, 2003. The Program Chair for the meeting is Gayle Olson, MD, from Galveston, Tex. Plans are underway for 17 oral presentations, three breakfast lectures, and five hot topics. Posters and exhibitors are scheduled for Thursday and Friday. Our opening reception will be held on Wednesday evening, October 1, 2003, and the scientific program will start on Thursday, October 2, and our Annual Banquet will occur on Friday, October 3. Enhance your stake again in the CAOG meeting by submitting your innovative research this year. The Program Committee will select papers and posters for the following awards:
Central Prize Award, President’s Certificate of Merit Award, and Central Poster Award Outstanding investigative or clinical work in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Those eligible to compete are accredited physicians, teachers, research workers, and medical students whose work was done within the geographic area of the Association. Recipient of the Central Prize Award will receive $2000, the Certificate of Merit Award $1500, and the Central Poster Award $500.
Community Hospital Award Research in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology by members located in a community hospital that is not a full-time medical school. The recipient of this award will receive $1000.
Young Investigator’s Award Research in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology performed by fellows, residents, medical students, and new practitioners (less than 3 years). The award winner will receive $750. This year is the fourth year for electronic abstract submissions. We will not accept paper submissions.
