Liquid recycling A r a n g e of l i c u i d recycle systems for industrial washing fluids and coolants launched by Hodge Stetfield combines the w i d e l y u s e d c o a l e s c i n g o i l s e p a r a t o r w i t h an a u t o m a t i c indexing paper band filter and an unusul flow splitting arrangement, to provide r e m o v a l of b o t h s o l i d s a n d tramp oils from a wide range of i n d u s t r i a l fluids. T h e s y s t e m is s a i d t o e x t e n d t h e life of t h e w a s h s o l u t i o n o r c o o l a n t b y a f a c t o r of b e t w e e n 3 a n d 5. In a d d i t i o n , i m p r o v e d control and consistency of s o l u t i o n is s a i d o f t e n t o r e s u l t in b e t t e r i ~ e r f o r m a n c e . A "higher-than-normar flow c a p a b i l i t y of t h e f i l t e r u n i t . allows the system to be coupled t o " c l e a n " a n d " d i r t y ' " t a n k s to p r o v i d e full f l o w filtration. This also allows the c o l l e c t i o n of s o l i d s f l o a t i n g o n the s u r f a c e as w e l l as t h o s e e n t r a i n e d in t h e l i q u o r . Fully automatic backflushi n g of t h e oi s e p a r a t o r c a n b e readily incorporated, and a sparging system can be integrated into the main liquor tanks to ensure that the solids d o n o t s e t t l e o u t in t h e d i r t y tank and become transferred to the automatic discharge filter.

A w i d e r a n g e of f i l t e r m e d i a are available, giving filtration l e v e l s f r o m 10 to 100 m i c r o n s w i t h r e m o v a l of f r e e o i l s f r o m t h e s y s t e m . F l o w r a t e s f r o m 50 to 2,000 I/min c a n b e p r o v i d e d . For smaller capacities, a s i m p l e f l a t b e d f i l t e r is u s e d , a n d f o r h i g h e r rates a n e w enhanced bed paper band filter.
