Background: Accumulating evidence indicates that central nervous system (CNS) cortlcotropin-releasmg hormone (CRH) is a key mediator of the neuroendocrine effects of cytokine activity. Increased basal cerebrospmal fluid (CSF) CRH concentrations are found m patients with posttraumatIc stress &order (PTSD) and may be associated with increased basal concentrations of plasma and/or CSF mterleukm-6 (IL-6). Methods: Mormng and late-afternoon samples of plasma and CSF, from eleven patients with PTSD and eight age and sex-matched volunteers who underwent a 6-h contmuous CSF withdrawal procedure were assayed by ELISA for IL-6. Results: Morning and late-afternoon plasma IL-6 concentrations correlated highly with each other (p < .OOI ). as did morning and late-afternoon CSF IL-6 levels (p < ,002). CSF levels of the cytokine were slgmficantly higher m the late-afternoon than in the morning (p c ,001). However, plasma IL-6 levels chdn’t correlate wnh those m CSF. We were unable to demonstrate slgniticant differences m IL-6 concentrations between PTSD patients and normal volunteers, either m the plasma or CSF, and neither plasma nor CSF IL-6 correlated significantly with CSF CRH levels. Conclusions: The results Indicate that plasma and CSF IL-6 may be chfferentlally regulated and that a dlumal varlatlon m CSF IL-6 appears to exist in humans. Previously described elevations m CSF CRH were not associated with elevated IL-6, suggestmg that increased basal CNS CRH does not Induce IL-6 In PTSD.

Backaround: The dependence of neurobehavloral reactions in psychic patients upon some frequencies of electromagnetic field (EMF) is known. Just time the antidepressant special dosed EMF effects are discussing. &I. To Investigate the sedative effects of special dosed electrostatic field (EF) transcranial stimulation in PSDP.To find the interdependence in mood regulations & cortisol, tnyodothyronlne(T3) level under the applied EF Materials, methods: The research was carried out of 60 PSDP with hypertension, divided into the Main Group HSPSDP I and 3 Control Groups/l5 PSDPl in each/. In the Main Group had been applied the drug therapy with EF application, Control Group 1 took drugs alone. In the 2nd Control Group had been given drugs & EF-placebo In the 3dControl Group used only the EF applcation. The drug therapy was in low dosage and identical for all groups of patients. In the Main and 3rd Control groups quazistationary EF( 2-4 mvlcm 40-50hz) directed to the head of patients during 3-8 minutes in a day, IO days Rasults and discussion: The study showed, that in the Main and 3d Control groups, where EF was used, It was noted the rise of cortisol & reduction T3 blood level, what correlated with increase of slow wave activity, rising of percentage of delta ranges (EEG data) and Improvement of mood lability, sleep disorders clinical indices Headache, anxiety were cut, depressive were decreased and memory concentration, ,blood pressure normalised. It was noted the decrease glutamine, glycin blood level in the Main and 3rd Control Group, more pronounced in the Main Group, what indirectly pointed to decrease brain excltotoxiclty effects and “soft” sedative effect In EF treated patients In Controls group we find only the tendency to improving of some clinical Indices Conclusion. Thus, the underlined link in cortisol, T3 blood level , brain activity was confirmed in PSDP. It was determine the soft sedative effect of used 40-50 Hz, 2-4 mwlcm EF In PSDP with hypertension, the possibility to normalise cerebral activity, gormone level, neurotransmitter changes by special EF distributed in time and space
