NEWS Continued from page 696 CERTIFICATES TO BE AWARDED TO QUALIFYING CE PARTICIPANTS
ADA-member dentists who participate in JADA's monthly Continuing Education Program can earn more than CE credit alone. Participants who earn at least nine out of 18 credit hours each year will receive a Certificate of Recognition, suitable for framing and office display. "We think members who devote the time and effort to improving their skills through our CE program deserve recognition beyond the credits they receive," said Dr. Lawrence H. Meskin, editor of JADA. Printed in script on parchment, the certificates will bear the ADA logo and the name of the University of Colorado School of Dentistry, which provides the credit for JADA's CE Program. Each month, starting in 1995, JADA has presented three articles designated as continuing education vehicles. Originally, JADA readers had to review all three articles and correctly answer nine out of 12 corresponding questions-four questions per article-to receive one hour of CE credit for a $10 fee. Last year the program was altered to encourage greater participation. Readers now have the options to review one, two or all three of the CE articles, depending on their interests, and answer the corresponding questions to earn half a credit per article or 1.5 credits for all three. JADA's CE participants now can earn up to 18 credit hours each year. The $10 fee has remained the same.
The change, noted Dr. Meskin, increased participation 700 JADA, Vol. 128, June 1997
in JADA's CE program by about 25 percent in one year. CORRECTION
The figure in the article "Nitrous Oxide in the Dental Environment: Assessing the Risk, Reducing the Exposure," published in the March issue of JADA, contained an error. The colors of the bars for the pediatric dentists and all dentists were reversed. The correct figure appears here. JADA regrets the error.
