collected before venom injection and then oa sera collected at 5, 30 and 60 min post-injection incubation intervals. Subsequent tests utilizing each of the five venoms, at either low or high dosage, showed sharp venom induced decreases in serum levels of Ca'+. The percentages of decreases increased with the duration in incubation intervals. Each of the five venoms also caused changes in serum levels of Mgr. In general, an increase in levels of serum Mg'+ was followed by a decrease within 60 min post-injection . Venom induced fluctuations in Ca'+ and Mg'+ serum levels tended to be more severe in female rabbits than in males. Some physiological mechanisms underlying the venom induced fluctuations in serum ions are discussed. Kns.~,, J.
