'calling all pharmacists' Pharmacists calling pharmacists is the basis for a telephone network system on the southside of Chicago. The system, set up to stop illegal activities and to protect the public, has been proved as able to alert-within minutes- more than 20 area pharmacists to possible presciption order forgeries. The network clicks into operation from the pharmacy of APHA member Harry Ose whenever he is notified about a suspect prescription order. Descriptive details then are telephoned from pharmacist to pharmacist and to law enforcement officials. The system has been praised by the Chicago police department and, according to Ose, has increased public respect for pharmacy. This alert system is one more of several interpharmacy networks in operation in the U.S.A. (see page 518 of the September issue and page 570 of the October issue of this Journal ).
