[Ann Emerg Med. 2016;68:638.] An 8-year-old boy presented to the emergency department, complaining of a sore throat, difficulty swallowing for the previous 2 days, and a muffled voice and foreign-body sensation in his throat for 1 day. He had finished a 10-day course of penicillin for “strep throat” 10 days before presentation. He was afebrile, with uvular edema noted on physical examination (Figure).
