Circle of Friends (Stewart’s Song) (Brought to mind again in connection with Tony Puxty) There are lights in our life, each one as precious as the sun, There’s one less now, a cold wind blew and took him away. Our eyes are now dry, we hold hands a little more tightly, His place is empty, the thief was sly — he gave no chance for screaming, Left friends, in dread, barely breathing. Let a smile light every face, each one remembering, Their own private memory, their piece of the whole. Call together a circle of friends. Share your joy, share your grief of heart. And there, before your loving eyes, he’ll stand and smile. Every life, every soul, each one a leaf upon the tree. There’s one less now, autumn acts so unpredictably. Stay close to the fire, when you feel that wind upon your shoulder, His place is empty, just one hour can take away a lifetime, We loved you more than we could know Let a smile light every face, each one remembering, Their own private memory, their piece of the whole. Call together a circle of friends, Share your joy, share your grief of heart. And there, before your loving eyes, he’ll stand and smile.
