The single crystal x-ray structures

of [ClF,]+[RuF,]‘

Cedex France

and [ClO,]‘[RuFJ

are the first

reported for salts containing an oxidized halogen together with a transition-metal (1). A detailed comparison different

anion

of these structures with those of analogous salts containing

metal centers as well as with other [Cat]‘[RuF,]-

increased degree of covalency is displayed by the ruthenium

species is afforded.

An

derivatives and is supported

by IR and Raman spectroscopy studies, among others. Evidence is also presented suggest a general “transition metal effect” affecting the bonding in salts of this type.
