Colour illustrations

Colour Illustrations This journal accepts illustrations in colour if the use of colour is essential to the presentation. The decision for this rests with the Journal Editor. It is our usual policy that the Publisher and the Author each bear part of the extra costs connected with colour illustrations. We have recently reassessed processing and printing costs for colour figures and hereby announce that from now on the charge to be passed on to authors of an article containing colour figures will be: 1000 Dutch Guilders for the first page containing colour and 500 Dutch Guilders for each additional page with colour, independent of the number of colour figures on each page. These prices are exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT). Authors will be billed in Dutch Guilders; at current exchange rates 1000 Dfl corresponds to approximately 526 US$. There are no additional charges for reprints containing colour illustrations ordered by the Author and 200 free reprints will be provided by the Publisher. Authors are reminded that for the preparation of colour illustrations, the Publisher needs good quality colour photographs, transparencies, colour printer output or 35 mm slides. (Polaroid colour prints are very rarely suitable.) Colour photographs and transparencies should be submitted close to the size expected in publication, Care should be taken in the selection of size and shape of colour illustrations so that figures can be fitted compactly together on a page to keep costs as low as possible.
