News Rail guides and roller tables Rail guides are precision rolling bearings for linear movement which can be simply connected to each other to enable virtually any type and length combination to be built up. Operational features of the guides from SKF include: low frictional resistance, low wear, high stiffness, constant running accuracy, and a high load capacity. They are produced from 90 MnV8 tool steel and the raceway is hardened to between 58 and 64 HRC. Three grades are available, with 10, 5 and 2 l~m deviation, the latter only being manufactured to order. Rail guides for limited travel can operate at speeds up to 0.5 m s ~ and with accelerations to 2 m s 2 Also added to the company's linear motion range are roller tables, which are pre-assembled linear guides or ready-to-mount units for limited or unlimited travel. Typical applications for the latter include their use in optical equipment, measuring equipment and testing devices. They are equipped with cross roller assemblies and are available in open and closed designs, made of steel or aluminium alloy and various standard

Active vibration isolation system from Newport Corpolalm~ sizes. Table accuracy includes lateral and height runout tolerances of 10l~m, For under normal operating conditions the coefficient of friction lies between 0.002 and 0.004 SKF Engineering Products Lid, North Crawley Road, Newport Pagnell, Bucks, MK16 9HB, UK
Active vibration isolation system Claimed to be the first cor'nmerc~al active vibration control system, the Evis electronic vibration isolation system from Newport electronically senses vibrations within the framework of the equipment and actively nulls them. Previous systems have used passive processes to control vibrations and have the disadvantages that they 'soft mount' the equipment, and are relatively ineffective against internal vibration sources. The systems are applicable for protecting all types of vibrationsensitive equipment including aligners, inspection systems, and probe stations. They are available both as retrofit platforms for protecting existing equipment, and as OEM instrument frames to be incorporated into new equipment.
