cians: Compensation arrangements for emergency physicians. Ann Emerg Med October 1988;17:1115.] COMPENSATION ARRANGEMENTS FOR EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS The American College of Emergency Physicians supports the following general principles for compensation arrangements for emergency physicians: ACEP recogmzes that emergency physicians practice under a variety of compensation arrangements, eg, independent contractor, fee for service, salary, hourly compensation, percentage of gross or net billing, or a combination of these. ACEP recognizes that good medical care is provided by physicians under different methods of compensation and, accordingly, does not endorse or favor any one type of arrangement. ACEP supports the availability of alternative compensation arrangements within the practice of emergency medicine.
