The authors describe their expf, ricnce using the Varir?n 6-set body scanner in a Fe&s of 34 patients with liver disease. The fan beam pcometry of the scanner allows very short scan times (3 and 6 set), during which all patients in this series could hold their breath. The streak artifacts caused by high and low CT objects were reduced End normal hepatic an.i parahepatic anatomy was shown clear:lg. The authors noted low CT areas *within the liver ,bvhich they felt might represent portal tracts in two-thir&i of normal ~t~~~ts.
