Conair sells pelletizer product line Conair has sold its line of strand and waterslide pelletizers to Reduction Engineering, Inc., Kent, Ohio, USA. The companies say that a licensing arrangement allows Reduction Engineering to use the Conair name in association with the pelletizing products for five years. Reduction Engineering will take over all inventories and will handle all future sales, although Conair remains responsible for all products sold prior to the signing of the agreement. "This is a natural evolution of the relationship between our two companies," comments Chris Keller, Conair president and chief operating officer. "We're proud of our pelletizer heritage and our position as the largest supplier of strand pelletizers in North America. And now, as our company and the marketplace have evolved, we have come to recognize that this product line
is no longer an ideal fit with our other product offerings. Reduction Engineering, a business partner for nearly a decade, is far better positioned to nurture the pelletizer product line and provide the intensive customer service and product engineering that our customers deserve. This agreement will benefit everyone concerned, but most especially, it will benefit the customer." Since 2000, Reduction Engineering has manufactured new pelletizer rotors for Conair, assembled smaller pelletizers under contract, and has handled service and rotor resharpening through its Accu-Grind regional facilities. In 2002, Reduction Engineering took over all manufacturing and began marketing and selling Conair pelletizers jointly with the Pittsburgh equipment supplier. During the same period, Reduction Engineering sourced
Reduction Engineering has bought Conair’s pelletizing line. material handling and other auxiliary equipment exclusively from Conair for sale with the pulverizing equipment it designs and manufactures. Reduction Engineering president, Robert Sly said: "We are delighted to be able to take over such a well-established and respected product line. For us, it means the logical next step in being the most reliable supplier of quality pelletizers
and related technology in the industry. We will continue to operate in the best interest of all Conair and Reduction Engineering customers. That means the same level of application support, parts and service as our many pelletizer customers have come to expect." Contact: Reduction Engineering Tel: +1 330 677 2225
Buss becomes independent equipment manufacturer again After acquisition by Fabrel Lotos Zurich and the Buss management, Buss AG Pratteln (Switzerland) is once again an independent manufacturer of compounding and processing plants. A friendly separation agreement with retrospective effect to the start of the year terminated the company's fiveyear membership of the Coperion Group, Stuttgart. Buss AG has annual sales of around CHF 60 million and currently employs 200 people. According to the company, strategic planning for the next few years is
focussed on growth. The parties have agreed not to reveal the transaction price. The new board chairman HansUlrich von Weissenfluh explained the reason for this acquisition as follows: "Having regained its independence, Buss AG can now concentrate purposefully and unrestrictedly on its speciality markets. Its experienced employees and wellproven management team under Dr. Beat Sturzenegger guarantee the continuity desired both by customers and ourselves. Furthermore, the company can
build on the substantial progress made over the last few years. Its successful new developments will be systematically marketed, and Fabrel Lotos will give this strategy full support. The Buss Kneader, invented more than half a century ago, was a recordbreaking industrial innovation. Thanks to successful ongoing development, it is still the best available product for many applications today - and I am convinced that it will remain so for many years to come". According to Buss, its core strengths are customized
