Ladies and Gentlemen, I have the pleasure to take the floor at the end of this Symposium and to give you some figures concerning the first results of this IFAC event . The 18 sessions, organised in two sessions in parallel, have seen the
presentation of 85 contributions, selected from around 150 proposed abstracts. The 85 papers issued from 18 countries, coming worldwide; 36 papers were from non-European countries. Unfortunately, 10 authors did not attend the symposium and their papers were neither presented nor discussed. Three plenary sessions took place, before the morning sessions, and presented an overview on some actual problems.
As far as the participants are concerned, we had the pleasure to register 241 registrations from 27 countries including Belgium. The exhibition and the poster presentations were very attractive and we hope that the contacts between manufacturers, universities and high school, and the participants have been beneficial for everybody. We hope that scientific and technical presentations and discussions were interesting and fruitful, not only during the sessions, but also during the coffee-breaks! We hope you enjoyed your attendance at the symposium and also your stay in Brussels and in our country. We thank you for coming and enlivening the sessions and the discussions. If the Symposium was not a success, I am responsible. success, it is thanks to your participation.
