PATENTS layer and a carrier layer. The functional layer has combustion-chamber-sealing beads (32), which enclose the combustion-chamber openings. At least one fluid-sealing bead (34), configured in the form of a half-bead and has a first bead foot (40), can be pressed against the carrier layer. A second bead foot (42) is spaced apart from the first bead foot by the bead width (B2). At least in some regions, adjacent to screw-holes, the carrier layer has on its first layer side, which is directed towards the first functional layer (12), at least one shallow depression (50), which extends along the first bead foot (40) and is of such a width (B3) that only a strip-form region of the first functional layer (12) is located above the depression (50) and, of the half-bead (34). This strip-form region contains only the first bead foot (40) and, at most, half the bead width. Patent number: WO/2015/113711 Inventor: M. Beaun Publication date: 6 August 2015
Connection system Applicant: Entegris Inc, USA This disclosure relates to systems for connections that involve fluids. More particularly, some embodiments relate to fluid connectors for use in high-purity environments, such as those required for the manufacture of semiconductors. Some embodiments specifically relate to easily engaged fluid connectors and connection systems that are configured to prevent, or inhibit disengagement. Embodiments provide details of a connection system that may use a locking nut that includes internal multi-start threads, which can seal fluid fittings with less than 360° of rotation of the locking nut. A locking sleeve receives the nut, and is mated to the locking nut such that it (the sleeve) and locking nut are rotatable about a first fitting as an assembly. The first fitting is sealed to a second fitting by engaging the internal threads with external threads on the second fitting. The locking sleeve is additionally configured to translate along the centre axis of the first fitting to a locked position, where locking features of the sleeve are aligned with one or more corresponding second locking features on the second fitting. This is done in such a way as to inhibit rotation of the locking sleeve. Patent number: WO/2015/119948 Inventor: J.K. Niermeyer Publication date: 13 August 2015
Seal assembly for cleaning devices used in tubulars Applicants/Inventors: D.H. Whitsitt and L.P. Vickio – USA 14
Sealing Technology
This invention relates to an elastomeric annular seal and seal assembly which, for example, fits to a cleaning device for tubulars. It is designed to provide a fluid seal between the device and the tubular that is being cleaned. There is provided an elastomeric annular seal that has chamfered first and second ends, and a generally cylindrical outer surface extending between these ends. Preferably, the annular seal is mounted on a rigid sleeve. The seal has annular cross-sections to fit the sleeve and the chamfers have specific radii, when viewed in longitudinal section, so that the chamfered ends of the elastomeric annular seal, together with the outside surface of the rigid sleeve, form an annularly shaped cup. Fluid under pressure in the cup expands the seal against the inside wall of a tubular when the seal/sleeve is appropriately sized for the tubular in which it is to be deployed. Connectors for smart windows Applicant: View Inc, USA This disclosure provides connectors for smart windows. The smart window may incorporate an optically switchable pane. In one aspect, a window unit has an insulated glass section that includes an optically switchable pane. A wire assembly is attached to the edge of the insulated glass section and includes wires that are connected (electrically) with electrodes of the optically switchable pane. A floating connector is attached to a distal end of the wire assembly. This connector may include a flange and a nose, with two holes in the flange for affixing it to a frame. The nose includes a terminal face that presents two exposed contacts of opposite polarity. Pre-wired spacers improve fabrication efficiency and seal integrity of insulated glass section. Electrical connection systems include those embedded in the secondary seal of the insulated glass section. Patent number: WO/2015/120063 Inventors: D. Mullins, T. Frank, J. Satern, T.D. Wilbur and M. MEMS encapsulation by multilayer film lamination Applicant: Qualcomm MEMS Technologies Inc, USA Systems, methods and an apparatus are described by this patent for creating a laminated film that encloses an array of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) structures. In one aspect, a MEMS apparatus includes a substrate with a device region and an edge region (surrounding the device region). The array of MEMS struc-
tures is located on the substrate, at the device region. A protective layer is disposed over the array of MEMS structures. A laminated film is disposed over the protective layer and is in contact with the substrate to form a seal at the edge region, where the laminated film forms a cavity between the substrate and the laminated film at the device region. The laminated film includes a moisture barrier layer, which faces away from the array of MEMS structures, and a desiccant layer facing towards the array. Patent number: WO/2015/122951 Inventors: W. Bearing seal Applicant: NSK Ltd, Japan The sealed ball bearing unit that forms the subject of this patent comprises an outer ring which has an outer-ring raceway surface formed on the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring; an inner ring that has an inner-ring raceway surface formed on the outer peripheral surface of the inner ring; balls arranged between the outer-ring and inner-ring raceway surfaces; and a seal member affixed to the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring. The seal member is provided with an annular metallic core and an annular elastic section that covers the metallic core. The inner diameter (ϕDc) of the metallic core and the inner diameter (ϕDr) of the elastic section satisfy the relationship 1.0 ≤ ϕDc/ϕDr ≤ 1.1, whilst the inner diameter (ϕDc) of the metallic core and the outer diameter (ϕDB) of the inner ring satisfy the relationship ϕDc/ϕDB < 1.0.
