Contact Lens & Anterior Eye incorporates International Contact Lens Clinic An improved journal with a global reach and new Regional Editor March 2003 – Elsevier are pleased to announce that Contact Lens & Anterior Eye (CLAE), the official journal of the British Contact Lens Association, now incorporates International Contact Lens Clinic (ICLC). In a fast moving, innovative field such as contact lens therapy and technology you can’t afford to stand still. Optometrists and ophthalmologists worldwide have an eye on the future and need information on the latest techniques, research and innovations at their fingertips. The incorporation of ICLC into CLAE will provide an indispensable resource for the dissemination of such information. This truly international journal will offer both researchers and contact lens practitioners an international perspective on the most upto-date clinical and scientific information relating to the very latest developments in the field. Terry Buckingham, Editor-in-Chief of CLAE, highlights the importance of globalization in terms of clinical information: ‘The forum for scientific debate is far larger than ever before and innovations are subject to ever greater scrutiny. There are very definite benefits accruing from the growing internationalization of all aspects of scientific and technical enterprise: international scientific collaboration, student exchange, global industrial recruitment of scientists and clinicians, as well as a world-wide market for ideas and products.’ The merger brings both extra content and new readers, mainly from the US. We are also very pleased to announce that Christopher Snyder, former Co-Editor-in-Chief of ICLC, will be joining CLAE as the US Regional Editor, working alongside Editor-in-Chief Terry Buckingham. Chris Snyder commented ‘The incorporation of ICLC into the CLAE journal is intended to continue the spirit of ICLC and bring its international contributions and perspectives to the highly respected and successful CLAE. As one whose first refereed paper was published in the ICLC (many years ago), I am happy that ICLC continues on through CLAE. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the CLAE international editorial team and hope that you will join me in anticipating what the future issues of CLAE will bring.’ The new journal content will be an exciting benefit to all CLAE readers. Vivien Freeman, Secretary General at the British Contact Lens Association, knows that her members will appreciate these articles. ‘Elsevier have offered CLAE authors a comprehensive package, including rapid online ahead-of-print publication and the Author Gateway; the merger with ICLC will bring a new community of experienced authors. Our members will notice articles from distinguished American researchers and clinicians.’ The first CLAE issue to contain ICLC content is volume 26, number 2 (cover date June 2003).
