Editorial

Continuity and innovation Roberto de Franchis, on behalf of Savino Bruno and Maurizio Vecchi

Dear Readers, this issue of Digestive and Liver Disease marks the beginning of my tenure as Editor in Chief of the journal. My main task will be to continue and expand the outstanding work done by the two previous Editors in Chief: Prof. Gabriele Bianchi Porro and Prof. Mario Angelico. To this effect, I envisioned to adopt for Digestive and Liver Disease the organizational model that was highly successful in my previous experience as a co-Editor of the Journal of Hepatology, i.e. the creation of a three-member team (one Editor-in Chief and two Co-Editors) who will collaborate in defining the Editorial strategies and will share the duties and responsibilities of the day-to-day conduct of the Journal. To create a successful team, I have enrolled, as Co-Editors, Prof. Maurizio Vecchi and Prof. Savino Bruno. Both are internationally renowned clinical scientists, and I believe that our combined expertise will be well suited to cover the major aspects of the diseases of the alimentary tract and the liver. With the help of Professors Vecchi and Bruno, we have started to increase the number of international members among the Associate and Assistant Editors and the Editorial Board. We are also in the process of contacting other European and extra-European Societies of Gastroenterology, who do not currently have their own journal in English, to explore whether they would consider the possibility of endorsing our journal.

By doing so, we hope that the attractiveness of Digestive and Liver Disease will increase for a wider audience of international scientists. We will also make every effort to attract review articles and meta-analyses on topics of high interest, written by worldrenowned experts. From the organizational point of view, we have enrolled Ms. Silvia Malosio as Editorial Manager, and Ms. Brenda Dionisi as Editorial Assistant. Special attention will be dedicated to communication strategies. We would like to explore the possibility to create a virtual community of readers and authors to comment on and share the Journal’s content through social networks. In the incoming months we will come up with further initiatives aimed at increasing the appeal of Digestive and Liver Disease for the international scientific community. The fortunes of any scientific journal depend on the consideration and the collaboration of its readers and contributors. We hope we will be good enough to attract your best research. On our part, we assure you that the whole Editorial team will do every effort to ensure a fair, efficient and rapid handling of your contributions. Conflict of interest None declared.
