Abstract PURPOSE: Expected postoperative mortality rate can be calculated using Euroscore. We analyzed postoperative outcomes including postoperative complications using Euroscore. METHODS: Consecutive cases of isolated coronary artery bypass grafting performed between 1991 and 2005 were placed into the systematic database. Postoperative mortality, morbidity, length of stay were analyzed whether or not they were correlates to the Euroscore. Outcomes were compared between the cases performed in 1990s and the ones performed in 2000s. RESULTS: Postoperative mortality, heart failure, pneumonia, renal failure were well correlated to Euroscore. Postoperative complications were acutely increased if the Euroscore greater than 7. Postoperative complications were significantly reduced in 2000s than 1990 in each point of Euroscore. Major operative difference between 1990s and 2000s were introduction of off-pump coronary artery bypass to our institution. CONCLUSION: Euroscore well predicts not only mortality, but also postoperative major complications. Introduction of off-pump technique reduced the operative mortality and morbidities. CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Euroscore is useful method to estimate postoperative complications.
