The authors regret that the writing style of ions (including carbonate, bicarbonate and bisulfate) was incorrect. Accordingly, “HCO− 3”, “CO2− 3” 2− and “HSO− 4” in the text and Table 2 should be amended as HCO− and HSO− 3 , CO3 4 respectively. Moreover, there should be no space between “a” and “pioneer species” in the first sentence of the third paragraph in Introduction. Minor errors were also identified in the alignment of Table 2 and the correct version is displayed here. None of these changes alters the results and conclusions.
