The authors found a mistake in the article. Materials and methods: ‘Coccolithophore concentration nos/l’ should be read as ‘coccoliths/l’. Result, Figures: Emiliania huxleyi abundance in the results as well as in the figures should be read as ‘values × 105 coccoliths/l’ instead of ‘values × 105 cells/l’. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
