The authors regret that in this article, we showed the proximate analysis of coals based on air-dried basis in Table 1, however, we have discovered that we inadvertently used the dried basis for the fixed carbon contents of coals B and C. Air-dried basis and dried basis are two kinds of expression for proximate analysis. When adopting dried basis, the content of moisture is not included. However, the content of moisture was used to analyze the variation of coal’s mass during thermogravimetric experiments. Therefore, air-dried basis for proximate analysis of coals should be used. The data, indicating the contents of fixed carbon for coals B and C in Table 1, should be 59.20 and 48.22
rather than 61.18 and 50.08, respectively. The mistake has an effect on Fig. 4, in which the content of fixed carbon was associated with Table 1. Besides, the effect of devolatilization on apparent activation energy was actually investigated in section 3.2. Therefore, ‘3.1.2′ in section 4.3 should be ‘3.2′ in the following sentence, to read: ‘In section 3.2, the reducing apparent activation energy is considered to be caused by the release of volatiles.’ The results and conclusions are not influenced. These mistakes have not been corrected online. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
