On page 178 in the Electronic Spectra section of the Results the last sentence at the bottom of the page should have read as follows:
The shifts between the luminescence and absorption maxima are in all cases of the order of 1 eV and hence much higher than in eis (CH) x [4] and may be an indication of the presence of a new low lying dipole-forbidden transition that indeed is observed in short polyenes [5land suggested also in (CH) X [6].
