Cortisol profiles in children with congenital adrenal hyperplasia during treatment

CORTISOL PROPIUS IN CHILDREN WITH CONGBNITAL ADREUI HYPERPLASIA DURING TRBATKENT; Kulessa, B; Blaim, A; Oblacinska, A; Paediatric Endocrinological Clinic, Ledi, cal Academy, 02016 Warsaw, POLAND The aim of the study was the analysis of 24h profiles of plasma cortisol obtained in 12 children with congenital adrenal hyperplasia with salt losing in age I-10 y, treated with hydracortisone in dose 20-40 mg m2 6.a. divided in I three administrations. The cortisol level at gh was low. The highest plasma cortisol level was found at different clock time between 9" - 15h. It is corresponding to the model of substitution, Bormal plasma cortisol rhythm was not achieved. The estimation of cortisol profile may be used in monitoring the glucocorticoid substitution.
