The bed, pictures of the happy home, children and birthdays, on newly painted walls The man tripped over the tricycle in the yard He became angry Dirt on his trousers The windows of the hostel are dirty It is raining I see only a blur Later that night, wet and cold I peer through the windows Of yesterday’s home I had forgotten to turn off the television The news is on The banks are losing money The president is sympathetic I can see well through the window I had taken the drapes with me They are on my bed in the hostel
