Further support for ColtecJ Goodrich deal An arbitration panel set-up to assess the impact of the Cohec/BF Goodrich merger and the counter claims has decided that it will not issue an injunction stopping the merger. The panel found that the deal did not breach the alliance agreement between Coltec Industries and AlliedSignal. Mr Robert Tubbs, executive vice president and general counsel of Coltec, said that the company was pleased with the panel's decision, as it indicated that there was no conflict between the contract with AlliedSignal and its merger with BF Goodrich. He went on to say that now the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Defense and an arbitration panel have refused to block the merger, the only hurdle left was the resolution of the Indiana court case. Prior to this hearing, a Senate Antitrust, Business Rights and Competition Subcommittee meeting took placed, chaired by Ohio Senator Mike DeWine. He had expressed anti-trust and
employment concerns over the merger. However, following the hearing Terence Linnert, senior vice president and general counsel of BF Goodrich, released a statement saying that the company fully intended to complete the merger with Coltec Industries.
