Cylinder-head compression sensor gasket Applicant: Federal-Mogul Corp, USA This patent covers a cylinder-head gasket that has been designed to allow a cylinder bore pressure sensor to be replaced easily. It enables this to be done without the gasket being removed. Individual sensors are fitted to a cross bore in the gasket with terminations located outside the gasket. A separate electronic module assembly is fitted to the side of the gasket such that electronics and the sensors may be replaced if required without having to remove the gasket body from its clamped position between the cylinder head and the engine block. Gasket member for a solar-cell module Applicant: Nisshinbo Holdings Inc, Japan A gasket for a solar-cell module has been developed. Its design aims to improve the water resistance, heat resistance and productivity of the module. The gasket is formed from a copolymer rubber in which an ethylene-D-olefin-non-conjugated diene copolymer rubber is cross-linked by 0.005–0.1 mol of an organic peroxide per 100 g of the copolymer rubber. The head gasket described by this patent includes half beads formed with predetermined inclination surfaces along the rim of the water inlet section, and vanishing beads that have inclination surfaces in the opposite direction to the half beads and formed in parallel with them. Both ends of the vanishing beads encounter the rim. A related structure, detailed by patent WO/2011/126179, is based on the same idea, but it applies to the junction of the cylinder-head and block with the casing for the timing chain. Method for improving fluorocarbon elastomer seal compatibility Applicant: Chevron Oronite Co Llc, USA This patent provides details of a method for improving the compatibility of a fluorocarbon elastomer seal with a lubricating oil composition that contains a major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity, and one or more dispersants containing one or more basic nitrogen atoms. The method involves adding to the lubricating oil composition an effective amount of one or more fluorocarbon elastomer compatibility improving agents of the general formula Si-X4 (or a hydrolysis product of these) where each X is independently a hydroxyl-containing group, hydrocarbyloxy-containing group, acyloxycontaining group, amino-containing group, monoalkyl amino-containing group or dialkylamino-containing group. In a similar way, patent WO/2011/126639 covers the addition of one or more oil-soluble titanium compounds. Patent numbers: WO/2011/126640 and WO/2011/126639 Inventors: K.D. Nelson, E.S. Yamaguchi, K.-S. Ng and P.S. Rogers Publication date: 13 October 2011

A cap that is designed for disposable containers which may be used for foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals forms the subject of this patent. It consists of a tapered cap that is capable of self-alignment. A gasket is provided between the cap and rim of the container fitment. Such alignment promotes positive sealing action between the cap, gasket and fitment. In one embodiment the cap defines an externally accessible recess that optionally includes a handle, such as at least one segmenting wall. This can be grasped by users to help them manipulate the cap. The cap may be affixed to a fitment of a flexible liner. Patent number: WO/2011/126793 Inventors: M. Kusz and V. Double-glazing glass unit with viscous edge seal Applicant/Inventor: R. Jones, USA This invention concerns vacuum insulating glass (VIG) (double-glazing) units that include an edge seal which includes a viscous material. This serves to restrict the rate at which gas permeates into the vacuum space defined between the glass sheets. The edge seal is configured in such a way that it allows the glass sheets to move laterally relative to one another when they experience differential thermal strain. It is also configured so that viscous shear occurs within at least a portion of the viscous material. Patent number: WO/2011/126670 Publication date: 13 October 2011

Heat-conductive sealing member Applicant: Dai Nippon Printing Co Ltd, Japan The heat-conducting sealing member that is described by this patent has exceptionally high moisture barrier and heat dissipation properties. It consists of a metal substrate and an insulating layer, and contains a resin that is thermally conductive. Patent number: WO/2011/126083 Inventors: S. Fukuda, K. Sakayori and Y. Iizumi, Publication date: 13 October 2011
