The mentioned method is much more simple, rapid and pr actical to determine the infecting serogroup of leptospira than the standard method requiring the isolation of the involved strain and only subsequently attempting its identification. Nevertheless, from the scientific and epidemiologic point of view, the standard method should be considered the best one.
