=---_New equipment pieces. AC magnetic flow has the advantage that it is easier to demagnetize than DC magnetic flow. It is also used for the circular magnetizing of hollow parts using the induced current technique. A further feature is the constant current control which ensures that the required magnetizing current is applied, compensating for any variations in conditions. The control console is suspended on an adjustable arm and provides optimum convenience for the operator. Controls are kept to a minimum and dialogue with the machine is via a large screen, through which the equipment is controlled and test status displayed. The screen includes a digital ammeter which confirms that the magnetizing current selected has been achieved.

Compact card camera
Miniature CCD camera from Hakuto International suitable for incorporation in pipe inspectionequipment
A compact, black and white card camera has been introduced by Hakuto using the latest in CCD technology. The HTC-M35 produces high resolution pictures coupled with flexibility.
fitted with a 'C' mount to increase the range of lens selection. With a size of 38 x 37.5 x 12 mm, weighing 17 g and requiring only a 5 V input it is one of the smallest fully specified cameras available.
The camera uses a 1/3" CCD with 500 x 582 (CCIR) or 510 x 492 (EIA) effective pixels producing 380 TV lines. The scanning system is 2:1 interlaced with an internal synchronization system; external synchronization can be chosen if required. An electronic shutter, giving speeds from 1/50 to 1/10000 s, coupled with an auto iris system ensures high quality pictures under any conditions. The Hyper-HAD CCD system removes the problem of picture blur due to movement.
It allows video camera inputs to be implemented in OEM equipment in many application fields including medicine, robotics, underwater monitoring and pipe inspection.
The device has a sensitivity down to 0.6 lux and may be

Digital ultrasonic inspection system The ALLIN high speed digital ultrasonic inspection system from NDT Systems S.A. can drive any kind of phased array probe (including up to 128
independent elements). Parts with large surface areas, such as metallic plates, tanks and aircraft wings, are electronically scanned at high speed (typically 100 times faster than with conventional probes) with higher sensitivity. Thick parts, such as ingots, bars, pipes and cast blocks, and parts with complex structures such as rotors are inspected with a constant lateral resolution and improved sensitivity through their whole depth, as well as in areas with limited access. The acoustic beam is electronically steered throughout the part, without any motion by the probe. The system is driven using easy-to- use software for motion control (up to six axes), data acquisition and processing (A-scan, B-scan and amplitude and time-offlight C-scan). The operator

measurements are completed within 15 s using an ultrasonic technique. Density range of operation is 0.9200 to 0.9700 g cm-3 and accuracy is +0.0005 g cm -3. The D5500 is based on an industrial PC format with printer interface and floppy disc for direct computer logging of results for further statistical analysis and report generation.

Another product launched by the company is the TC6700, an advanced eddy current instrument for steam generator inspection. Systems incorporate multiple transputers, proprietary simultaneous injection technology and high performance demodulation techniques. This results in high performance, fast inspections, better signal quality and excellent noise immunity. The system supports up to eight different simultaneous frequencies, up to 192
Microflash NDT is an automated instrument from Holometrix for nondestructive thermal diffusivity and conductivity measurements of aluminium nitride. Samples can be exchanged and tests completed in seconds, making it an ideal quality control tool for manufacturing. No sample preparation is required and samples as large as 4" x 4" can be accommodated.
channels of eddy current data and speeds of up to 7000 samples s -1 .

The system functions are separated into discrete modules: transmission from 0.5 to 20 MHz, electronic scanning, electronic beam steering, amplification with programmable gain up to 100 dB, and digitizing up to 200 MHz. The equipment is modular and can be configured to customer requirements. It can be easily upgraded with additional ultrasonic channels, higher frequencies, logarithmic amplifiers, etc.
