A computer program is in preparation which will make it easier in the future for a teacher to compile an interactive teaching programme himself. Without any knowledge of a programming language being necessary, with this computer program it is possible for material which is already on a videodisk to be used in individual teaching. In the lessons, explanatory texts can be used and optional questions can be asked, but it is also possible to make the progress of a lesson dependent on the answering of multiple-choice questions which are asked either at the pupil's request or after each section of the lesson.
Venus for Tornadoes Venus high voltage power supplies will be used to power tv tabular displays in the interdiction/strike version of the Tornado fighter and for head down displays in the air defence version of the plane. It is anticipated that eventually between 300-400 Tornadoes will be built incorporating the Marconi Avionics display system. The choice of Venus power supplies comes after a period of 10 years, in which the companies have done business together on a number of projects, including the Swedish Viggen jet fighter. Negotiations have been completed with Smiths Industries for the supply of Venus to be used in the production of the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B. The units will be used to power hud's in the aircraft for which there is a potential production run of 350 units.

D i r e c t speech 'Hands free' voice links between two to thousands of intercom stations is an attraction of the Philips M100 direct speech system. The master station has a built-in microprocessor giving control of a number of communication facilities. Itis adaptable and extendable: extra stations, and extra cable if needed, are plugged into the eight pair parallel cable reprogrammed within seconds. The keyboard layout includes a volume control and privacy button as well as controls for a number of standard and optional functions.

Panel meter A naked three digit panel meter led display is said to be 'sunlight viewable'. The display is integrated on the same 5.8 x 4.5cm pc board as an a/d converter and decoder/driver. It has a range of -99mV to +99mV with an accuracy of plus or minus 0.1%. To provide overrange indication, the display will read 'EEE' when the reading exceeds +99mV, and ' - - ' when the reading exceeds -99mV, operating over a temperature range of -40°C to +65°C.
