Book Review Directory of Capillary Electrophoresis TrAC Supplement No. 1, Edited by D. Coleman, Elsevier, Amsterdam-London-New York-Tokyo, 1994, VI + 150 pp.; price: Dfl 137.00; ISBN 0-444-81798-0. This is a very useful book informing the readers on "who is who" in the field of capillary electrophoresis which, at present, is the most progressive separation analytical technique. After the Preface one can find the Author index with 462 entries on 77 pages. Each item represents one expert in the above mentioned field and the reader can find here the name, title, address, telephone number, fax number, specifications on the research topics, area of applications, techniques of expertise and a couple of scientific papers which are considered the most significant. The next part is a Geographical Index which gives, in a very telling way, a survey of 30 countries where one can find who is doing what in each country. The following part is a Company Index with 17 entries giving the company names, address, name of a contact person, telephone and fax

numbers, together with specifications on the products. The last part is a Subject Index where one can find the names of experts in the fields defined, i.e., Isotachophoresis; Capillary zone electrophoresis; Capillary gel electrophoresis; (Micellar) Electrokinetic capillary electrophoresis; Capillary isoelectric focusing; Protein/peptides/ amino acids; Pharmaceuticals/drugs; Nucleic acids, nucleotides, nucleosides; Inorganic ions; Environmental toxicants; Other applications; Theory; Sample handling and introduction; Detection; Column technology; General instrumentation; Operational aspects; Hyphenation. To summarize, it is a very useful book which should be at a hand for anybody interested in capillary electrophoresis.
