The Editorial Council for The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Incorporated, is pleased to announce the launch of thejpdonline.net, its NEW digital electronic Web site, on February 24, 2010. Through this Web site, the Editorial Council will serve the needs of restorative dentists, prosthodontists, surgeons, dental laboratory technicians, and related auxilliaries. The site is unique in the way various forms of educational information can be viewed by the diversified Global Dental Community. Patient therapy management, or the “how to” and “why” in providing treatment, scientific evidence supporting the treatment protocols, and the innovation and development of commercial products specifically for patient treatment are included on the Web site through various short videotape presentations, brochures, and other information transfer methods. These methods for informative presentations support the concept of anytime and anyplace learning that is a goal in dental education today. The online JPD will be presented in English and Simplified and Traditional Chinese in 2010, with other translations to follow. We invite you to visit http://www.thejpdonline.net and explore these new innovative learning experiences for yourself. OPEN ACCESS of January 2010, February 2010, and March 2010 issues is available to all viewers.
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry The Editorial Council was created in 1950 as a nonprofit corporation with the responsibilities: 1) to publish a print journal as an outlet for evidence-based information, and 2) to provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and the advancement of knowledge in prosthetic and restorative dentistry through other media and resources. In accordance with the first responsibility, the Editorial Council introduced The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry in March of 1951. Publication of the Journal has continued to the present date as a monthly issue featuring basic and applied research, clinical studies, and prosthetic and restorative treatment therapies of patients. Literature overviews related to restorative and prosthetic dentistry, and articles describing new dental materials and innovative approaches in clinical and laboratory technology, are topics presented in the print issue of the JPD for our readers. The print Journal will continue to be published monthly. In response to the second responsibility, thejpdonline.net Web site was created by the Editorial Council to provide other forums for transfer of educational information to the Global Dental Community.
