Culligan Water Technologies Inc has completed the acquisition of the water filtration business of Ametek Inc in a stock merger transaction. As a result, Ametek's water filtration business has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Culligan and Ametek's stockholders will receive an aggregate of 3 466 667 shares of Culligan common stock. Ametek's water filtration business manufactures and markets point-of-use water filtration and treatment products under the Ametek, Plymouth, American Plumber and other brand names. The company supplies a wide range of water filtration producls to the DIY, plumbing wholesale, commercial/industrial and water treatment markets. Douglas A Pertz, Culligan's president and chief executive officer, said: "'We are extremely pleased to have completed this acquisition and welcome Ametek stockholders to our stockholder base, Ametek's water filtration business is a logical, synergistic fit with our current business. WHATMAN EXPANDS INTO THE NETHERLANDS Whatman plc has acquired 100 per cent of the share capital of Aqnilo Gas Separation BV from TBI Holdings BV of The Netherlands for £4 million in cash. Aquilo has developed a proprietary hollow fibre membrane technology used for the production of nitrogen by air separation. The acquisition will supplement Whatman's industrial operations which are active in the markets for drying, separating and filtration of gases. Sales of Aquilo nitrogen generation equipment will benefit from the extensJve international sales and service network Whatman has developed.
