Integrated pressurised pump-shaft seal assembly and method of using it Applicants: P.F. van-de-Velde and Toyo Pumps North America Corp – Canada An integrated pressurised pump-shaft seal assembly for a rotary fluid pump is disclosed. The assembly includes an oil reservoir; an integrated centrifugal oil pump, directly attached to and rotatable by the pump shaft and connected to receive oil from the reservoir; and a seal chamber connected to receive pressurised oil from the centrifugal oil pump. The seal chamber includes a pump shaft bearing that is adapted to be lubricated by the oil, and a mechanical shaft seal, which surrounds the pump shaft and is adapted to seal the chamber against ingress of the pumped fluid. The integrated pressurised pump-shaft seal assembly may also use first and second mechanical shaft seals. Details are also given of a method of preventing seal failure in the rotary fluid pump. Bearing isolator seal for rotating shaft Applicant: Flowserve Management Co, USA Conventional bearing isolators use a variety of shapes and features on the atmospheric side of the bearing isolator seal in order to prevent external contaminants from entering the isolator. The most challenging contaminant to exclude is a high-velocity water spray, which may occur during equipment wash down from a hose or pressure washer. It may also occur during extreme weather events with high winds and rain. Various bearing isolator seal designs have been developed and these typically aim to resist such contaminating conditions. The objective of this invention is to provide an

Threaded joint for an ultra-thick oil-well pipe Applicant: JFE Steel Corp, Japan The purpose of this invention is to provide a threaded joint for an ultra-thick oil-well pipe. It is designed to be able to maintain sealing action and prevent the occurrence of galling in a state where a high compressive force is applied and high external pressure acts on the joint. The surface of a “pin-like” structure that serves as a sealing part and a surface on a box side have a convex curved shape and tapered shape, respectively. The pin has a pin-seal thickness ts of no more than 15 mm, a shape parameter ts/D (where D is the outer diameter of the pin original pipe section) of at least 0.045, and a total screw length ratio L/t (where L is the pin total screw length, and t is the thickness of the pin original pipe section) of no more than 4.0. external agents, on an electro-conductive adhesive of at least one circular cut-out of a special zinc part. A micro-crystalline petroleum wax is applied to a groove and securing stud, and the securing nut of the vertically or horizontally flanged coupling. A seal, made from high-density polyethylene, is also applied to the securing stud of the vertically or horizontally flanged couplings. Patent number: WO/2015/108405 Publication date: 23 July 2015
Valve stem seal Applicant: NOK Corp, Japan This patent provides details of a valve stem seal that is capable of stably fixing a reinforcement ring to a valve stem guide, and which exhibits excellent working properties with respect to the attachment of the reinforcement ring to the valve stem guide. The reinforcement ring is attached by fitting a cylindrical part to the valve stem guide from a side opposite an inwardfacing flange part. The cylinder part is provided with a slit that extends linearly in the peripheral direction, and an engagement protrusion, which is provided through the slit and at the side opposite the inward-facing flange part, and which engages with a recess formed in the valve stem guide. The engagement protrusion is configured from a bent part that gradually sinks radially inwards through the slit, from the side opposite the inward-facing flange part, to the position of the slit. Anti-corrosion protection of flanged couplings
Downhole packer
Applicant/Inventor: D. Nuñez Cardenas, Mexico The method described is used to protect vertically or horizontally flanged couplings against external corrosion in surface installations that operate continuously at a temperature up to 80°C. The method involves applying at least one anti-corrosion zinc tape to one side-face and front face of a vertically or horizontally flanged coupling. In addition, at least one transparent seal is applied to protect against weather conditions and the penetration of
Applicant: Swellfix Bv, The Netherlands A downhole seal device and associated method forms the subject of this patent. The seal device described has a support member; first and second end-members, fixed to opposing ends of the support member; and an outer seal mounted on the support member. The seal device is configured to enable it to be mounted on a pipeline or other elongate member. Patent number: WO/2015/110471 Inventors: N. Anderson and C. Mackie Publication date: 30 July 2015
