DSM Resins introduces series of fast curing, spray gel-coats IN RESPONSE to demands for faster mould turnaround times and increased productivity, DSM Resins has launched a new series of gel-coats, Neogel 2500. These products are claimed to be quicker to lay-up than many gel-coats presently on the market, while retaining typical gel times. The products are said to work well in a variety of workshop temperatures, and especially in colder conditions. The isophthalic-based spray gel-coats have been developed to include the latest air release technology to give excellent spray performance. They are available in clear As any specifier will tell you, phenolic GRP composites are beautifully fire-resistant, if not exactly beautiful. Indeed, in the looks department they’ve been up there with the average warship - any colour you like so long as it’s grey. Now though, all that has changed. The new Cellobond FRP phenolic resins from BP Chemicals are available in a wide range of co/our finishes from paint to gel coat. What’s more, unlike other composites, they are also capable of satisfying the IMO High Speed Code requirements for a’fire resisting material: There has never been a better time to take a fresh look at phenolic composites in your application. For more information on how we can satisfy your requirements phone +44 1446 731255. We promise to fire your imagination, and nothing else.

(2500-1-l) or a white (2500-W-l) pigmented grade which has high opacity and covering characteristics. The clear grade can also be supplied prepigmented to a wide range of standard colours. A colour matching service is also available. The gel-coats also have excellent secondary bonding characteristics and improved water resistance, making them suitable for potable water and marine applications, says DSM. Lloyds Register of Shipping and WRC approval is pending.
High performance marine resin from Reichhold THE LATEST addition to Reichhold Chemicals’ marine resin line is Hydrex 100. While the original Hydrex formulation is a modified vinyl ester, Hydrex 100 is a 100% vinyl ester with higher heat distortion temperature (HDT) and physical properties. This high performance marine laminating resin is designed for the fabrication of small to large fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) structures with high production rates at room temperature. Benefits for boat builders are said to include a low water ab-
sorption rate, high strength, and an improved profile. These result in superior blister resistance, resistance to impact and demoulding, and minimized print-through to ensure smooth surfaces. Reichhold says Hydrex 100 also wets otti reinforcements rapidly which minimizes voids while allowing users to easily maintain resin to glass ratios. Hydrex 100 retains its physical properties at elevated temperatures.
