NEW proaucts SHOT BLAST SYSTEM Viking Blast & Wash Systems rolls our the new 36 ST Airless Swing Table Shot Blast System. This new
blast system has the table attached to the door; when the blast door is opened, the worktable swings completely clear of the cabinet, offering easy loading and unloading. Tablestyle blast machines are capable of cleaning a wide variety of parts that cannot be tumbled due to size or shape. The table rotates while exposed to the abrasive blast, providing a uniform surface finish. The 36 ST comes standard with a single swing door. An optional second door with table can be added for improved efficiency and increased production. This machine offers a %-inch-thick manganese alloy steel, replaceable table liner that is 36-inches in diameter. The 36 ST can clean parts up to 28inches tall and has a load capacity of 1,000 lbs. Two 5 HP, V 10 blast wheels are urilized for optimum cleaning efficiency. Abrasive-resistant, manganese alloy plate, wear liners protect the blast cabinet in the primary blast zone, directly opposite the blast wheels, providing long www.metalfinishing.com
life. Cast chrome liner packages are also available for greatly increased cabinet protection and abrasive resistance. Other standard features include an airwash separator for cleaning abrasive prior to blasting, and a separator plate to provide equal distribution of abrasive for a smooth and even finish. Lastly, a safety interlock prevents opening of the blast door during operation, providing operator safety. For more information, please visit www.vikingcorporation.com or call (800) 835-1096.
DUST TEST KIT Loose particles on blast-cleaned surfaces will reduce coating adhesion, leading to premature coating failure. To that end, TQC has developed the SP3200 dust test kit for inspecting
the pretreatment quality during protective coating jobs as, for example, described in IMO-PSPC MSC.215(82). An ergonomic test kit to assess the quantity and size of dust particles on blast-cleaned surfaces prior to painting following the ISO 8502-3 standard. An adhesive tape is applied under specified conditions on the blasted surface, picking up any residue of dust or blasting media when removed. The kit contains all required tools
to perform the test, such as specified adhesive tape, a pictorial standard to define dust quantity and size, an illuminated magnifier, scissors, a tape-transfer sheet and a set of report forms for permanent record keeping of sample findings. Since these tests have to be made on site oftentimes in harsh conditions, the kit has been designed so that all separate items fit inside a special binder-case and are secured in place when not in use. The report forms also offer facilities to note other relevant parameters during pretreatment inspection, such as condensation/dew point, roughness, salt contamination and visual cleanliness. An optional spring-loaded roller performs the test as described in ISO 8502-3 par. 5.3 to ensure reproducible force on the test tape. For more information, call (800) 762-2478
