WORLD PUMPS
Dye pump allows easy colour change
No magnets in sealless sliding vane range Mouvex, a company in the Pump Solutions Group, has launched a new series of sliding vane pumps that have been designed with no magnets, no mechanical seals and no packing.
Watson-Marlow’s Neat Dye pump.
The first model in the SLP Sealless Series is the SLP25i, which has a maximum flow rate of 110 gpm (25 m3/h), differential pressures to 12 bar (174 psi), can handle viscosities up to 60,000 cst/278,000 ssu and can operate in temperatures up to 212°F (100°C).
Watson-Marlow has developed a Neat Dye version of its 520 peristaltic pump for the pulp and paper industry. The 520 pump incorporates tube elements and a pumphead design which allows concentrated, neat dyes to be transferred directly to paper machines. It is not necessary to make down the dye or flush out the pump because the dye colour can be changed in one step by switching the tube element.
Watson-Marlow pumps keep fluids contained within the tube at all times, never allowing fluid to come into contact with the pump mechanism, ensuring gentle, low shear handling of the fluid. Any corrosion and abrasive damage is restricted to the consumable tubing element. The elastomer tubing, which is the only part that will need replacing, resists abrasive wear. www.watson-marlow.co.uk
Sealless centrifugal handles chemicals 3M Pumps has launched the C MAG-PL, a horizontal, sealless ETFE lined centrifugal pump with a permanent magnet drive system and no mechanical seals. The pumps can handle fluids with a maximum viscosity of 200c St at flows up to 90 mc/h and maximum system pressures up to 16 bar. They feature an isolation shell which separates and seals the fluid chamber from the atmosphere. This makes them suitable for use with aggressive or high purity fluids in chemical and pharmaceutical applications. www.worldpumps.com
They are also suitable for transferring acids, alkalis, hydrocarbons, heat transfer oils, liquid gases, toxic and explosive chemicals in industrial and chemical industries. They can pump low viscosity surfactants, acids and CIP chemicals in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
The pumps incorporate a shaft sealed by a double stainlesssteel bellows, which covers an eccentric shaft that drives the bellows in a circular motion
during pump operation. This motion rotates the pump shaft and rotor via an integrated crank system. This makes the pump 100% sealless and leak-free, Mouvex says. Using the SLP Series can result in a 30% reduction in energy consumption, the company adds. The pumps are easy to maintain with no special tools required for routine maintenance and the vanes are easily replaced with the pump in place. The SLP pumps are ATEX-certified and can dry-run for up to 10 minutes. All body parts are made of 316 stainless steel, with FEP-coated FKM O-rings and TVP (PEEK) vanes. www.mouvex.com
Pumps for heavy-duty refinery duties Nikkiso KSB has developed a new range of pumps designed for a minimum of 20 years operation in a refinery under heavy-duty conditions for pressures of at least 40 bar. The new series from Nikkiso-KSB generates a maximum flow rate of 350 m³ per hour and a maximum discharge head of 200 m. The maximum permissible fluid temperature is +450°C. They can cope with
rough climatic conditions with permissible ambient temperatures ranging to -50°C. They feature low-noise, up to 132 kW motors fitted with a corrosion-resistant and energyefficient can made of highgrade chrome nickel molybdenum alloy. The new pump sets feature in addition a flameproof motor housing. The pump shaft bearings are made from composite material of silicon carbide and graphite. www.ksb.com
In the food and drink industries they are also suitable for handling CIP chemicals, such as sodium hydroxide, nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide and pumping water treatment chemicals. www.pumpeng.co.uk
