EACMFS Prizes and Awards The Council of EACMFS wishes to ensure that all members of the Association are aware of the current awards and prizes that are available. These are designed to provide educational support and also to allow the opportunity for trainees to visit units outside their own training programme.
Trainee candidates for the award should be in the final year of their programme and should have completed training by the time of taking up the grant. The winner will be officially announced and introduced during the EACMFS Congress. Candidates should apply to the Secretary General of the Association before 30 June of each year highlighting their interest in implantology and what they aim to achieve on the award of grant. A detailed curriculum vitae and two letters of reference should be submitted. On completion of the Course the candidate will submit a report to the Secretary General and the course director will also send a letter describing the candidate’s achievements.
Leibinger Prize Award of the Leibinger Prize is designed to support a period of targeted education and training away from the host programme of the successful candidate. There are two prizes of V 5000 and V 2500 Euros, respectively, awarded every 2 years. The awards are restricted to Trainee Members of EACMFS and are made on the recommendation of the Endowment Committee ratified by the Executive Committee and reported to the Council. Applicants should submit a detailed curriculum vitae highlighting career aspirations and contributions already made to the specialty together with details of the programme to be visited, the aims and objectives and the gains anticipated. The educational programme to be visited should be within Europe, allow active participation in clinical patient care and normally be of not more than 3 months duration. Signed approval by the host and visiting programme directors is mandatory and it is strongly recommended that prospective candidates seek advice and approval from the respective national bodies supervising the training programmes. Successful candidates will be required to submit a written report to the Secretary General not more than 3 months after return from the host unit. The Prizes will be presented and the successful candidates introduced at a high profile event in the main auditorium during the biennial EACMFS Congress.
Hugo Obwegeser Travelling Scholarships These scholarships made on the recommendation of the Endowment Committee are designed to encourage Trainee Members of EACMFS to travel to other countries to enhance their education and training. Applications should be made to the Secretary General on the standard application form available from the Secretariat and also on the EACMFS website at www.eurofaces. com. Full details of the planned visit will be required together with a letter from the host unit confirming the arrangements and signed approval of the head of department of the current post. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that approval for leave of absence has been obtained from the employing authority. EACMFS will not be responsible for the payment of locumtenens fees at any time and it is strongly recommended that prospective candidates seek advice and approval from the respective national bodies supervising the training programmes. Successful candidates will be required to submit a written report to the Secretary General not more than 3 months after return from the host unit.
Mondeal Prize A prize of V 5000 available to any member of EACMFS who has presented or published a meritorious paper in the period leading up to the biennial Congress of the Association. The award will be made on the advice of an elected Prize Award Committee and the successful candidate will be notified well in advance in order that attendance at the Congress can be planned. The winner will be officially announced and introduced during the EACMFS Congress.
Educational Grants A grant of V 150 per year is available to each Trainee Member to support attendance at the Rolling Programme of Education. Details of application will be available at each course. Endowment Committee
Implant Innovations Grant for Implantology The Endowment Committee of the Association oversees all applications in order to ensure fair distribution of scholarships and the presentation of speedy recommendations to the Executive Committee. Advice on all applications is available from the Secretariat of the Association.
A 4 Day Implant Dentistry Training Program Course at New York University will be made available to any member to foster the education of oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the use and enhanced applications of osseointegrated implants. 183

The Helene Matras Scholarship: Educational Programmes in Romania, Poland and Skopje In a further endeavour to promote educational exchange an award of 800 Euros will be made to the participant who at the conclusion of each course in the Romania, Poland and
Skopje Programmes is judged by the teaching faculty to have performed to the highest level in the final assessment. To be eligible for the award candidates should be Trainee Members of the EACMFS and have attended each session of the course for which the Scholarship is to be awarded.
