P r a x a i r a n d Olin a g r e e on hydrogen p r o j e c t PRAXAIR Inc a n d Olin Corp have agreed that Praxair will c o n s t r u c t a n d operate a liquid hydrogen p r o d u c t i o n facility on t h e site of Olin's chlorine a n d caustic p l a n t in McIntosh, Alabama, US/~ The new p l a n t will have a n o u t p u t of 26 tonne/day. The nearly $40 million p r o j e c t is s c h e d u l e d to begin in t h e second quarter of 1995, p e n d i n g final agreements on a state e c o n o m i c incentive. P M World Congress calls for papers A CALL for p a p e r s h a s been issued for t h e 1994 Powder M e t a l l u r g y World C o n g r e s s , to be held in Paris, France, on 6-9 J u n e 1994. Professor Dominique Francois, of t h e Ecole Centrale de P a r i s a n d c h a i r m a n of t h e Congress organizing committee, says PM94 h a s wide ranging objectives. It will provide a n occassion for reviewing t h e c u r r e n t status of powder metallurgy (PM) a n d for accelerating t h e diffusion of up-to-date i n f o r m a t i o n o n all a s p e c t s of PM from p o w d e r p r o d u c t i o n to p r o d u c t application, Francois says. The Congress will include 'state-of-the-art' lectures, keynote lectures, p o s t e r sessions, plus special seminars and workshops. In a d d i t i o n a separate five-day e d u c a t i o n a l programme will be run for s t u d e n t s a n d teachers. The call for p a p e r s concerns a u t h o r s w h o would like to c o n t r i b u t e to t h e various congress themes, including t h e k e y n o t e l e c t u r e s or s p e c i a l sessions. The deadline for t h e submission of papers is 15 September, 1993. A m a j o r e x h i b i t i o n will b e r u n n i n g alongside PM94 with 100-150 organizations expected to take up the 1 8 0 0 m 2 o f floor space. Central features of t h e e x h i b i t i o n will b e a n o p e r a t i n g production line for PM p a r t s a n d a showcase of c o m p o n e n t s .
