The Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials is pleased to announce a new category called Critical Focused Issues. Critical Focused Issues will consist of single articles on controversial or emerging topics of interest. This new category of articles will identify hot problems that need to be addressed in the future in order to advance an emerging subfield of magnetism. By identifying such open issues, these articles will focus the interest of the community to the challenges ahead. Thus, unlike review articles, this category will aim more on the future and what needs to be explored, rather than on what has been explored in the past. Of course, the articles will include a review aspect in order to identify the open issues and put them into perspective. The articles need not be long, exhaustive or comprehensive. They will provide the vision of the authors, who will be recognized experts in the field. We seek input from our readership on topics and proposed authors, including selfrecommendations. Don’t be shy. The articles will be highlighted and given as rapid processing as possible. Readers will utilize these articles to focus their thinking on future endeavors. These articles should also help to generate proposals to funding agencies worldwide. The first article in this series is entitled: Role of the antiferromagnetic bulks spins in exchange bias. The authors are I.K. Schuller, R. Morales, X. Batlle, Ulrich Nowak and Gernot Güntherodt. P We encourage you to provide your feedback, and your ideas and recommendations for future topics and authors, via email to jmmmagma-at-gmail.com. Sam Bader for the Editors
