Continuing Education Outreach Program

T

he Continuing Education Outreach (CEO) Program of the Center for Perioperative Education began this fiscal year. The program is much like academic outreach programs that colleges and universities use to bring courses to people who are not within easy driving distance of the schools. The CEO program is a pilot program designed to provide easy access to continuing education activities for AORN chapters with fewer than 50 members and AORN chapters in medium-size cities. Personal letters and brochures were sent to 20 AORN chapter presidents inviting them to participate in the pilot program. The brochure outlines the expectations for the chapter and the expectationsfor AORN.

Chapter Activities

C

hapters can apply to the AORN Continuing Education Approval Committee for approval of activities. Activities that are pending application, pending approval, or approved are the only ones listed in the Journal. Contact the Center for Perioperative Education at (303) 755-6304 x 254 for more information about listing a chapter activity in the Journal. To register for chapter activities, a member must contact the person listed with the activity because chapter activities are not coordinated through AORN Headquarters.
