ABSTRACT Baghos, B. B., Helali, Y. E. and Tawadraus, M. Y., 1988. Effect of tectonic movements on chord distances between Egypt and the Wegener/Medlas network. In: Yu. D. Boulanger, S. Holdahl and P. Vysko~il (Editors), Recent Crustal Movements. Journal o f Geodynamics, 9: 139. This paper is a contribution to the recent studies of crustal plate motions in the eastern Mediterranean area. The equations representing the changes of the lengths of the chord distances and the estimated standard deviations are obtained in terms of the kinematic parameters which describe the relative motions of two plates. The expected changes between three selected sites in Egypt (Helwan, Matruh and Abu Simble) and W E G E N E R / M E D L A S network stations are given in Table I.
