WORLD PUMPS
Low-noise running without compromise
For ready-to-pour and frozen concentrates MasoSine is promoting its pumps in both the fast-growing ready-topour and frozen concentrate market segments. MasoSine pumps are used in loading and unloading of tankers that transport the concentrate, pumping concentrate to a blending process and pumping concentrate. Unloading times for a 5,300 gallon tanker is just over an hour.
Sykes MH150/100 Super Wispaset features a robust chassis for use in demanding environments and rugged terrains.
A part of its range of silenced pumps, pump hire specialist Sykes Pumps has launched its new MH150/100 Super Wispaset. This medium head pump is aimed at mines & quarries, the marine industry, power generation, petrochemicals, refineries and construction. Applications include pressure testing, batching plant washing, emergency or temporary fire mains and any situation where high vertical and/or long discharge runs are required. Sykes Pumps claims that its MH150/100 Super Wispaset raises the bar in terms of low-noise pumping without compromising
on power, reliability and flexibility. Employing a 129 kW Iveco engine, the unit is capable of heads up to 105 m, with a maximum flow rate of 320 m3/hr (or 89 l/s) and noise levels down to an average of 70 dBA at 7 m. The pump is set to run at 1800 rpm which means that fuel costs can be lower and engine noise reduced. When operating at Best Efficiency Point (BEP), the fuel consumption is an economical 21 l/hr. Despite being aimed at applications where there is a low concentration of solids, the unit has a solids handling capacity of 20 mm spherical. www.andrews-sykes.com

In addition to pumping straight concentrate, MasoSine pumps can be used in other areas of the blending and filling operation, including filling lines for blended and single-strength juice and for pumping corn syrup or high
fructose corn syrup in the blending operation. The Sine pump has a single shaft and rotor without complex timing gears and multiple seals associated with conventional rotary lobe pumps. The pumps can be cleanedin-place (CIP) and various CIP modifications are available depending upon the product being pumped and the cleaning protocol used. It can also be disassembled for manual clean-out-of-place (COP). The pumps are certified under 3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. (3-A SSI), the industry standard for food sanitation and hygiene. www.masosine.com

Efficient flow control with variable speed The new Vacon 100 FLOW range is optimised for efficient flow control with pumps and fans, ac variable speed drives. The range has dedicated application menus for water and other pump and fan segment applications, economy with integrated two-zone PID control, and multimotor control facilities provided as standard. Available with power ratings from 0.55 kW to 160 kW, Vacon claims that its new flow drives allow substantial energy savings to be

achieved compared with the use of fixed-speed drives. The Vacon 100 Flow drive range is based on the technology used in Vacon’s 100 family of multipurpose ac drives and provides a range of features. These include dual-zone PID control, which allows two process parameters to be controlled simultaneously; integrated frost protection; start and sleep boosting; soft pipe filling, which runs pumps at low speed until the pipe are filled; and an anti-ragging function that detects
when a pump is blocked and initiates a user-defined cleaning sequence. Vacon 100 FLOW drives also incorporate a real-time clock that allows pump duties to be rotated at preset times to equalise wear. The clock can also be used for other forms of scheduling and to generate time-stamped diagnostic information. In addition, the drives have a
run-to-destruction fire mode, making them ideally suited for use in sprinkler and emergency ventilation systems. www.vacon.com
