Aimed at nonhospital health care professionals, the MAILSharps TM system allows them to collect, transport and destroy contaminated dry sharps (needles, syringes, and blood collection apparatus). After placing infectious waste in a special container and shipping carton approved by the US Postal Service, the user sends the package via regular mail back to its manufacturer for final destruction and disposal. A manifest is returned to the shipper as permanent record of the waste's destruction.
