EMBRYONIC TRANSPLANTATIONS IN ALLOGENEIC AND XENOGEMEIC COMBINATIONS : IMMUNOLOGICAL STATUS OF THE GRAFTS AFTER B!RTH. N.M. Le Douarin, Institut d'Embryologie du CNRS et du Coll~ge de France, ~gbis, Avenue de la Belle-Gabrielle 94736 NOGENT-sur-MARNE CEDEX, France. Early embryonic transplantatinms of neural and non neural tissues have been performed between quail and chick embryos and between embryos of different strains of chickens. The response of the immune system toward the grafted tissue has been investigated. Early engraftment was found unsufficient to induce long term tolerance The conditions for obtaining complete. tolerance are being defined.
