The Endoprobe N-~* was originally designed to be used during periapical surgery to prepare the apex for a reverse seal. In nonsurgical endodontic treatment and especially in molars, the location of the root canal orifices may present difficulties because one's view is obstructed by the fingers. The Endoprobe 1~-~) may be used as an instrument holder to facilitate exploration and preliminary enlargement of the canal orifices. A reamer or file is fixed in the holder by means of the lock screw; it may also be snipped off at the holder to form a probe (Fig 1,2). The orifices are widened into funnel shapes (Fig 3) so that conventional instruments will slide easily into the canals when the reaming and filing procedure is continued without the Endoprobe. *Endoprobe N-~J is distributed by Hygenic Dental Mfg. Co., Akron, Ohio.
