English Language and Literature Periodicals An Annotated Select List of Current Serial Publications in English Language and Literature? B. BOGG The following select, list of periodicals dealing in whole or in part with English language and literature is intended to assemble bibliographical information about the periodicals in greater detail than is possible in large general guides. Apart from the general guides, there were only lists of the periodical holdings of individual libraries and the study of history periodicals by Boehm and Adolphus,l which provided the example for this much briefer and more restricted list. The contents of the list are limited to the more scholarly, as distinguished from literary, publications. Periodicals on general or other subjects have been largely excluded. The information given in the list was the most recent available in 1967, and all the periodicals were described under their present titles, arranged letter by letter, and the editor and place of publication were those named in the latest issues at the time. Monograph series are not included except in the one or two cases where the title of the series links it with a particular periodical rather than with a society which may also produce a periodical. At the end of the main list bibliographies appearing regularly in the periodicals described are collected into one sequence for easy reference.
