Tsurumi aerators in wastewater plant
Entries sought for China’s pumps and valves awards
Three Tsurumi TRN aerators have been installed to minimize the negative effects of warm weather at a Dutch wastewater plant.
A major awards scheme for companies operating in the Chinese market is open for entries.
A wastewater plant in Wijster, Netherlands, has been experiencing unpleasant side effects caused by recent warm weather. The plant treats wastewater from a nearby slaughterhouse, and this was affected by a lack of oxygen produced by the mild temperatures. The subsequent high pH level of the wastewater caused an unpleasant odor that disturbed operations at the site. Zinc anodes To solve this problem, local Tsurumi distributor Distrimex Pompen & Service B.V. provided three Tsurumi 100TRN424 aerators to increase oxygen levels in the wastewater as it is produced by the slaughterhouse. To ensure the high pH level of the wastewater does not affect the pumps, they

have been equipped with zinc anodes to protect the machines against corrosion. The pumps were positioned at the bottom of the sewage basin without any change to the existing wastewater management system. Tsurumi’s aerators include an AirSeal-Principle prolonging the pump’s lifetime. None of the TRN’s membrane pores can become clogged, ensuring continual operation. http://www.tsurumi.eu/home
There are five categories at the 2015 Ringier Technology Innovation Awards - Pumps & Valves Industry - Centrifugal Pumps, Positive Displacement Pumps, Jet Pumps & Other Pump Types, Valves, Seals, and Ancillary and Other Products. Only new products and solutions launched during 2014-2015 in the China market are eligible to enter the awards organized by World Pumps China, Ringier Trade Media and supported by World Pumps published by Elsevier. Six industry experts, including Marshal Chen, executive director of the American Institute of Architects, and Xiaobo Cheng, chief engineer of the Shanghai Municipal Sewerage Company, will be among the independent panel of judges.
Winners at the 2014 awards
The purpose of the awards is to encourage, acknowledge and reward individuals and companies who have introduced and developed a new idea, methodology, product or technology that has contributed to efficiency, costeffectiveness and energy saving. In 2014, 22 innovative products won awards. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on May 6, to coincide with the IE Expo 2015 in Shanghai. http://us.industrysourcing.com/innovation/pumps
KSB focuses on energy Stainless steel motors saving at major trade fair built for cool running Energy efficiency is the key message for manufacturer KSB at this year’s Berlin water trade fair. The German firm is highlighting a series of initiatives and launches across its product range. With its FluidFuture campaign KSB will show the savings potential hidden in hydraulic systems. It will debut its permanent magnet synchronous drive for six inch submersible borehole pumps. This motor type does not require any current in the rotor to generate torque as the rotor field is created by magnets, eliminating heat loss and boosting efficiency. The UPA-150-C submersible borehole pump will also be on display.

Motor manufacturer Marathon Electric has improved its range of products designed for hygienic applications.
KSB will present a Sewatec waste water pump with SuPremE motor and PumpDrive variable speed system at Wasser Berlin.
It is designed for use in water supply, irrigation, drawdown of groundwater levels, pressure boosting and fire protection.
The stainless steel motors from Marathon, part of the Regal Group, are designed for exceptional resistance against water penetration including a shaft seal, a long ingress path and an internal slinger mechanism.
Another highlight will be a new variant of the high-efficiency AmaDS³ waste water pump. Wasser Berlin takes place from March 24-27. See www.ksb.de/ WasserBerlin2015 for details.
The stainless steel motors are ideal for hygienic applications such as food production.
The outer surface of the motors is designed with clean lines to avoid crevices and corners where dirt or grease could collect while they are suitable for pressure washing and can withstand hot water temperatures of 80 degrees centigrade often used by the food industry. The range meets Efficiency Class IE3 with low electrical losses and cool running while the ball bearings are lubricated for life, which reduces maintenance and also helps ensure clean operation. The motors are available in a range of sizes and power capabilities and all are suitable for use with an inverter drive for variable speed operation. www.regalbeloit.eu
