This is essentially a paperback edition of a volume produced in 1972, containing mainly up-dated versions of papers delivered to a symposium on 'Indicators of Environmental Quality' held in Philadelphia in December 1971. These deal mostly with principles rather than examples of indicator species. There are, however, useful summaries of practical investigations.

Technical Information Center, Office of Public Affairs, US Energy Research and Development Administration, Springfield, Virginia. 1975. pp. ix + 648. Price: US $13.60 (US $16.10 foreign). The report is based on the symposium held at the University of Maryland in March 1974. The papers concern technical problems relating to power station construction, plume rise and the ecological and other effects of emissions. They cover a rather wider field than the title might suggest, as topics such as airborne sea salt are included.
